Fine Arts International Film Fest

Miramar, Puerto Rico

Every year, the Festival presents documentaries, short films and films that are divided into Official Selection, Information Section, Premium Operas, among others. In addition, actors, directors and personalities that participate in different forums and activities of cultural and cinematographic interest are invited. Some of the artists and personalities that have visited us in the past years are: Paco León, Pablo Trapero, Martina Gusmán, Johnny Pacheco, Marlon Moreno, Manolo Cardona, Frank Perozo, Marianela Sinisterra, Jorge Alberti, Jacobo Morales, Denise Quiñones and Mirta Ibarra, among others.

The films that make up the Official Selection participate in several awards such as: Audience Award, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Film and Best Director. To achieve a fair selection, 5 members of the Jury are chosen, composed of people related to the film industry and with a great willingness to evaluate each of these films in an objective and very professional manner.

The goal of each year is to surpass the previous year and continue offering an artistic space where variety and quality predominate in each piece that is exhibited.

Based in the Georgian midlands town of Birr, OFFline Film Festival is an exciting event for film lovers and makers alike. With Irish and international films being screened in a quirky array of venues around the town, all preceded by short films, audiences are spoiled for choice.

The festival also includes workshops on all aspects of film-making given by industry professionals. Perhaps the most exciting aspect of OFFline is the short film-making competition.

Teams of film-makers make and edit a short film in Birr in a matter of days, often enlisting the help of locals in front of and behind the cameras.

The films are submitted to an international panel of judges and screened to the public on the final day with the winning short bagging a generous cash prize.

Grand Rapids Feminist Film Festival

Grand Rapids, United States

The Grand Rapids Feminist Film Festival (GRFFF) is celebration dedicated to elevating voices and showcasing talent from historically underrepresented groups in mainstream media.

Our mission is to:

● Bring awareness to the lack of diverse representation in front of and behind the camera
● Inspire and empower media creators of underrepresented and marginalized groups to engage in filmmaking as a feminist act
● Examine media through the intersecting lenses of gender, sexuality, race, ability, class, age, etc.
● Cultivate a welcoming safe space that fosters cross-cultural understanding

Now in its sixth year, the GRFFF was originally the brainchild of independent publisher The Bandit Zine as a film version of their magazine. What started as a small evening showcase has now grown into an all-day festival that includes interactive workshops and panels, performances by local artists, and films screened from around the world.

This year, the festival will be held at Wealthy Theatre in Grand Rapids. We'll be hosting speakers, a drag show and upwards of 30 short films

We’re excited to see the fest grow even more this year, and are so happy to be a part of the ever-evolving Grand Rapids feminist community.

GRFFF is run entirely by volunteers and is made possible through community partnerships and sponsors.

The NOLA Critical Edge Film & Live Art Festival 2019 celebrates filmmakers and performers. There will be screenings of short films, and a showcase of short performance experiments from some of the most striking artists working today. Our mission is to create an environment where artists can network. After each screening and performance, we will have a panel, and have the opportunity to get insight from established directors, actors, producers, artists, and performers. This is our festival’s 2nd time around, and we are ready to see what the minds of visual artists and musicians have to share in the Crescent City.

For the first time, Nola Critical Edge will have its own sector of awards for artistic activism. Artistic activism is a creative force that educate us, influences our notions about human relationships, and brings about social change. We will celebrate artists that have used their passion for activism by paying tribute to them and publicizing their art. Furthermore, we will be giving lifetime awards to artists who have contributed to social justice and activism in NOLA.
