THE ONE TAKE FILM FESTIVAL IS AN INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF FILMS SHOT IN ONE TAKE, THAT IS FILMS SHOT WITHOUT INTERRUPTION, FROM THE MOMENT OF TURNING THE CAMERA ON TO THE MOMENT OF TURNING THE CAMERA OFF. THE ONE TAKE FILM FESTIVAL ELIMINATES A SEEMINGLY INDISPENSABLE PART OF A FILM - NAMELY, EDITING - AND THUS PROHIBITS CUT, DISSOLVE, FADE IN/OUT AND ALL OTHER TYPES OF TRANSITIONS. IN THAT WAY, THE ONE TAKE FILM FESTIVAL MAKES ROOM FOR A MORE STIMULATING CONCEPT OF FILM AND MORE EXITING FILM-MAKING. THE ONE TAKE FILM FESTIVAL INCLUDES FILMS OF ALMOST EVERY GENRE IN IT'S PROGRAMME (DOCUMENTARY, FICTION, EXPERIMENTAL, MUSIC VIDEO AND COMMERCIAL). THE RUNNING TIME OF THE FILMS IS NOT LIMITED. THE ONE TAKE FILM FESTIVAL PRIMARILY EMPHASISES THE AESTHETIC ACT OF FILM-MAKING, AND THE ONE TAKE IS CONSIDERED ONLY A FRAMEWORK FOR IDEAS, EMOTIONS, STORIES… FOR WE SHOULDN'T FORGET THAT LONG AGO WORKERS HAD LEFT THE LUMIERE FACTORY IN "ONE TAKE" ALSO. THEREFORE, ONE SHOULD NOT BE FASCINATED WITH THE FACT. THE ONE TAKE FILM FESTIVAL, ALONG WITH THE OFFICIAL COMPETITION, OFFERS NUMEROUS OTHER EVENTS - INTERESTING ADDITIONAL FILM PROGRAMME, PREMIERES, LECTURES, PANEL DISCUSSIONS, FILM WORKSHOPS, EXHIBITIONS AND OF COURSE, GOOD TIME FOR EVERYONE. THE ONE TAKE FILM FESTIVAL IS THE ONLY ONE OF ITS KIND IN THE WORLD, AND IT TAKES PLACE IN ZAGREB. THE ONE TAKE FILM FESTIVAL WILL, IN IT'S THREE-DAY PROGRAMME, CONVINCE YOU IN THE POSSIBILITY OF EXCLUDING THE CLASSIC CONCEPT OF FILM EDITING IN FAVOUR OF CAPTURING A PART OF REALITY IN ITS CONTINUITY, WHERE THE DIVERSITY OF CINEMATIC LUDISM IS NEVERENDING, AND THE RESTRICTION INCREDIBLY ENTICING.

Show Me Shorts is New Zealand’s leading international short film festival. We work to connect New Zealanders with the best short films from here and around the world; celebrate excellence in short film making; and foster the short film community.

Each year our experienced team of programmers curate a selection of the best short films from Aotearoa and around the world, plus some of the top local music videos. We prioritise cinematic narrative-style films with strong audience appeal, as well as films that are making their premiere in our festival.

Founded in 2006 at a single venue, Show Me Shorts has grown to become a nationwide event celebrating the short film art form, and championing the filmmakers. The festival now takes place at more than 25 cinemas nationwide, from Kaitaiai to Stewart Island.

We launch the festival with glamorous opening night events at the country's two most prestigious picture palaces The Civic in Auckland and The Embassy in Wellington.

As part of the festival, Show Me Shorts also provides resources, professional development and networking opportunities for aspiring short film makers through our Short Film Talks, Filmmaker Resources and Aotearoa Short Film Lab for screenwriters.

At Show Me Shorts, we love filmmakers. We love your creativity, aspirations, questions and how your stories bring us together.

As most filmmakers will tell you, being involved with making a film means; countless hours of hard work, stress, dedication, discipline, lack of sleep, lots of smiles, lots of tears, ridiculous amounts of coffee consumed, new bonds forged, and not to mention all those hours spent away from family and friends. So what’s the point of going through it all if no-one ever gets to see your work of art? Could you imagine if Leonardo Da Vinci painted the Mona Lisa, and just hung it in his bedroom? Your work of art NEEDS to be seen, admired and help to inspire.

'The Next Level International Film Festival’ (TNLIFF) was inspired by filmmakers for filmmakers to encourage and help push filmmakers to their full potential. 'The Next Level’ is a platform for emerging artists to show the world what they are capable of, not just locally or nationally, but INTERNATIONALLY!

As this is the first year that the festival is running, we would like to offer a special ‘Grand Opening’ invitation to the event, meaning that the event will be FREE to all those who wish to attend as ‘General Admission’. That’s right it’s a FREE festival. So the money you save on a ticket, can be spent on the amazing food and drinks that are on offer. Other ticket options will become available closer to the screening night, including special food and beverage packages and reserved seating.

Every year we are inspiring to hold the festival at a different location. In 2018 the festival will kick off the ‘Wine Festival Month’, and be held amongst the vineyards with a beautiful mountain backdrop, at the prestigious ‘Mudgee Wines’ located on Henry Lawson Drive in Mudgee NSW.

HARD:LINE International Film Festival aims to present the various faces of extreme cinema.

The question as to what is meant by the term “extreme” can be understood by looking at the content of our wide selection of fantastic films. “Extreme” is often defined by an explicit splatter aesthetic but it can also be represented by unusual story-telling methods or an exotic visual language. Thus, we are meticulously selecting such examples that could be important in the future of the genre. We have not set any boundaries in our search and whether a film is a pearl of the independent scene, fun splatter or no-brainer, H:LIFF loves special films!

HARD:LINE International Film Festival is no warehouse festival where the priority is to show as many films as possible but rather concentrates on presenting a few glowing examples of everything that extreme film can be.

Discovery Film Festival: Scotland's International Film Festival For Young Audiences

Sat 21 October – Sun 5 November 2023

Discovery Film Festival is now in its twentieth anniversary year. Based at Dundee Contemporary Arts, and touring to partner venues throughout Scotland, the UK and Ireland, the festival screens films from all over the world which have been specially programmed for young audiences.

The festival includes three exciting weekends of films, creative activities, and gala events, as well as two weeks of screenings and events for schools.

Discovery aims to develop new audiences for the best in international film, improve media literacy and offer young audiences an insight into the lives of children and young people in other cultures. The festival has been running since 2004 when it was started as a partnership with Dundee Education Development Department, Scottish Screen and DCA.

Discovery Film Festival is a DCA project and is organised by Mike Tait, Festival Producer and Cinema Youth Development Officer. A team of Young Ambassadors (aged 15-19) work with Mike to programme films and advise on the overall design of the festival. A team of teachers and education consultants advise on the education programme and create Curriculum for Excellence relevant resources for classes visiting the festival.

Discovery would like to thank Creative Scotland and Dundee City Council for their ongoing support.
