Our mission is to promote unique and original creative voices from the Ottawa-Gatineau region and from around the world. Mirror Mountain showcases innovative, groundbreaking and unconventional films in a wide variety of genres, including drama, documentary, animation, experimental, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, dance and music videos. In addition to film screenings, the festival features engaging, community-oriented activities such as live performances, hybrid media presentations, interactive exhibits, parties, panel discussions, Q&A sessions and more. Our events aim to connect filmmakers both with audiences and with one another, and to support artists through educational and professional development opportunities.

Why should I submit to Mirror Mountain?

1. Free festival pass for all filmmakers who submit

Everyone who submits a film to Mirror Mountain, regardless of whether or not it is selected, gets a free pass to attend the entire festival.

2. Free to submit for local filmmakers
Films of any length can be submitted for free if they were shot and/or edited within a 125 km radius of Ottawa. This area includes Gatineau, Maniwaki, Mont Tremblant, Montebello, Hawkesbury, Cornwall, Potsdam, Brockville, Smiths Falls, Perth, Renfrew, Arnprior and more.

3. Free submissions for alumni
If you directed a film that was officially selected in a previous edition of Mirror Mountain, you can submit again at no cost.

4. Your money back
If your film is officially selected to screen in the festival, we’ll reimburse your original submission fee.

5. We pay artist fees
If your film is officially selected to screen in the festival, you will also receive an artist fee to thank you for letting us screen your work.

6. Fewer restrictions
We have no premiere or date-of-completion requirements. Your film is still eligible even if it has screened in the Ottawa region before, has distribution, has been broadcast on television, or is available to view online.

7. Stay in the loop
After you submit your film, you’ll get a notification from the festival to confirm we’ve received your application. Later, you’ll receive a notification informing you of the results, regardless of whether or not your film was selected.

8. Awards for winning filmmakers
Awards are given out in several categories after the completion of the festival. Award winners receive a certificate and a selection of prizes donated by our sponsors.

9. Friendly and alternative atmosphere
As a community of filmmakers and artists, we strive to cultivate a vibrant, dynamic and welcoming atmosphere, where creators and audience members from diverse artistic and cultural backgrounds can come together to engage and grow through shared work and conversation.

FARO 1540 - Association for the Defense and Promotion of Environmental and Cultural Heritage of Faro, after the success of the last editions of FARCUME - International Short Films Festival of Faro, is organizing the 11th edition of this Festival to be held in the city of Faro from 20 to 22 of September, 2024.

This 14th edition of FARCUME intends to exhibit and promote works in the short films section of up to a maximum of 18 minutes in length, divided into three categories: Animation, Documentary and Fiction.

In this festival, all national and foreign citizens can participate, individually or in groups, simply by complying with the stipulations in the regulation, filling out a registration form and having sent their works to the organization by June 21, 2024, subject to pre-selection.

The main purpose of this Festival remains the same: publicize and launch new talents as well as promote near the public the excellent works that are done in this area but not always have the desired and deserved promotion.

In other words, FARCUME within an informal environment, good mood and relaxed atmosphere intents to reward and recognize the dedication, commitment, creativity and merit of directors, actors and technical teams that, with modest means, can develop works of great quality.

Given the principles and goals of "FARO 1540", which even has the status of NGO (Non Governmental Environmental Organization) the Festival will continue to have a strong environmental concern and sensitivity alerting participants not to present short movies claiming or encouraging disrespect for the environment, human rights inequality or animal abuse. It will be further developed an Environmental Management Plan specifically "designed" for this event to ensure optimization of the resources needed for the promotion and accomplishment of the event and management of generated wastes.

Join the most popular IMDb qualifying Monthly Festival in Europe!
+850 five stars reviews, thousands of submissions from 150+ countries in the world. Now with monthly Italian press coverage!

Founded in Rome in 2018, in five years Rome Prisma Film Awards has grown into one of the most community driven festivals, hosting more than 150 directors from all over the world presenting films that are driven by an independent mentality, brave storytelling and innovation of forms.

$105.000 WORTH OF PRIZES IN SERVICES EVERY YEAR

In the monthly film festivals panorama, many events are unethical and non-transparent, providing minimal value and grabbing money from filmmakers without committing to promote and showcase their work the best they can. We are working on Rome Prisma Film Awards to change this system for the better, creating an always improving stage-by-stage monthly festival that revolves around live screenings in Rome and around the creation of a community of filmmakers from all over the world, with submission costs within reach of everyone. Your film can participate with other independent movies and with world-class talents in a fair competition where everybody starts on the same line.

WE LOOK FOR MEANING, WE LOOK FOR UNITY, WE LOOK FOR BALANCE

Hosted by Cinema Azzurro Scipioni, in its first year it saw Silvano Agosti as the president of the jury, a legendary italian director that has worked alongside the greatest italian professionals like Morricone, Storaro, Piovani and many others. Over the course of its second year it moved to Cinema dei Piccoli, one of the oldest movie theaters of Rome in the heart of Villa Borghese park since 1934. Since 2020 the artistic director Marcello Di Trocchio stepped in, creating a series of very popular online screenings on Twitch during the pandemic. In 2021, the festival came back live at Cinema Farnese, one of the oldest and most prestigious cinema in Rome, where it currentyl holds its screenings every four months.

Our winning films have gone all the way to A-tier festivals like the short film "August Sky" by Jasmin Tenucci, winner of the Special Mention at Cannes Film Festival 2021, "Censor of Dreams" by Leo Berne and Raphaël Rodriguez, shortlisted in the 2022 edition of the Academy Awards, Nate Milton’s "Eli" from the official selection of Sundance Film Festival, "Kiss the Ground", the Netflix documentary starring Woody Harrelson, Patricia Arquette and Jason Mraz, and many others.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES WITH OTHER MONTHLY FESTIVALS

▪ Our festival has a stage-to-stage competition that revolves around live screenings every two months.
▪ We have adopted an Ethics and Transpacency policy you will find at https://www.romeprismafilmawards.com/ethics/.
▪ We won't ask for multiple submissions in different categories. One submission is valid for all the 24 awards. We won't charge a hundred dollars for your submission.
▪ We will watch your movie with care and respect.
▪ All submissions get more than $40 in discounts in our partner festivals during the next months. So it is practically free!
▪ The most winning films, filmmakers and screenwriter stay in our Hall of Fame © forever.

All films must be authored and have a solid storyline throughout. We love films with a ‘hygge’, homey, welcoming feel.

FILMS WE DO NOT ACCEPT
Films made of you on holiday doing extreme sports, general sports or marathons, adrenaline stunts, adventurous things (unless they are cultural in the area you are visiting) or showcasing how beautiful and interesting a country is with no cultural or story binding the film together.

Films depicting animal cruelty or sports of any kind.

These aren’t cemented rules and we are always open to ideas, feel free to contact us by email before submitting if you have questions or suggestions.
