8° NATIONAL RURAL FILM FESTIVAL OF AYACUCHO

The Rural Film Festival was created in 2016 as an initiative presented by Lic. Emilio Quiroga to the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Ayacucho, with the goal of promoting audiovisual production in our city.

Every year, we launch an open call at the national and international level for short films of fiction and non-fiction that address the concept of "RURAL" through their form and/or content. Our intention is to explore the perspective of this concept and enrich ourselves with productions from other places in our country and the world.

The Festival offers training programs and support with theoretical and practical audiovisual production tools to those who join this initiative locally. This includes teachers and students from schools and educational institutions, community centers, organizations, or simply groups wishing to participate and residing in the city of Ayacucho.

These are some of the central concepts we have implemented over the years and will continue to develop in this space:

Short film production as a powerful educational tool that strengthens cognitive skills, creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork, while motivating students in an innovative way.

Basic audiovisual production training, workshops for teachers on how to guide students in creating short films. This includes teaching them the basics of planning, shooting, and editing videos. Many teachers have no previous experience in these areas, so the training helps them lead these projects.

Integrated evaluation of student-made short films across different subjects, so that teachers recognize the relevance of these projects beyond their specific area of expertise.

Collaborative projects where teachers from different disciplines (such as arts, history, literature, science, and technology) work together to create an interdisciplinary short film. This could include combining thematic areas to address a common issue from different perspectives.

Online educational resources or YouTube tutorials for teachers on how to apply film to various subjects. This may include how to shoot a scene, how to light it correctly, or how to work with sound, all at a level accessible to educators with no cinematic experience.

Access to simple editing software or online platforms (such as InShot or CapCut) that students can use at home or in the classroom to edit their projects. They can also use sound recording tools or simple effects to help with content creation.

Scriptwriting talks and courses or storyboard models that teachers can adapt to their subjects. This helps students follow a proper structure when writing their scripts, ensuring that their stories are more consistent, regardless of the area in which they are working.

We promote and encourage the cinema room in our city and other alternative screening spaces.

We foster cooperation between rural and urban schools.

We generate socio-educational projects in schools, institutes, and training centers.

We offer talks, courses, and training open to the community.

We produce audiovisual content and resources for the departments of the Municipality of Ayacucho.

We produce local short films that address fiction stories and rural documentaries, as well as other themes of interest to filmmakers.

This experience has become a phenomenon that grows each year, surpassing its initial expectations. We are motivated to make our identity known, promoting the value of Ayacuchense culture and that of our country. We emphasize human relationships and the bonds that arise from this encounter for mutual benefit.

We strengthen alliances between our community and people and groups who come to the city of Ayacucho from nearby towns, other provinces, and cities across our country, drawn by the social event and the values that the Rural Film Festival represents.

It is necessary, through our intervention, to guarantee access to a symbolic language, which is essential to navigate the world around us and construct the images and sounds of our time. This is a fundamental task for the development of society, the strengthening of democracy, equity, and access to work. We approach audiovisual media as an object to be thought about and constantly transformed.

SECOND EDITION!!!

The Colli Albani or Castelli Romani area has been the setting for numerous national and international films, starting with "Inferno" in 1911, considered the first Italian feature film.

To then remember "The Leopard" by Visconti, "Nights of Cabiria" by Fellini, " quel pasticciaccio brutto di Via Merulana " by Gadda, many of Totò's films, up to "the stolen children" by Amelio, " il marchese del Grillo” by Monicelli, “il Vigile” by Zampa and many others until the recent “all you need is crime” by Giallini.

The Colli Albani Film Festival was therefore born from the need to honor this territory linked to cinema in the best possible way, giving space to Italian and foreign authors to present their works, creating concrete opportunities for professionals in the cine-audiovisual world.

Furthermore, it will be an opportunity for the local population to get closer to cinema to see and vote for the works selected at the festival.

LOCATION

Grottaferrata ALFELLINI CINEMA
Recently reopened and completely renovated thanks to the commitment of Davide Fontana in collaboration with the Municipality of Grottaferrata and with the support of Manuele Ilari and the Madison circuit.
Introductions, presentations and meetings for the selected works

Will be 4 out-of-competition screenings

2 of these screenings will be of old or recent films set in the Colli Albani area with guests and introduction.

2 instead will be current Italian or foreign films with guests and introduction.

It is planned to include the **SCHOOLS AWARD**, where selected works will be voted on by local schools.

Warsaw International Film Festival

Warsaw, Poland

Established in 1985, the Warsaw Film Festival joined in 2009 the elite group of events recognized by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (www.fiapf.org) as international non-specialised film festivals - next to Cannes, Venice, Berlin, Locarno, San Sebastian, Karlovy Vary, Tokyo, Mar del Plata, Shanghai, Cairo, Fajr, Goa, and Tallinn.

The WFF differs from other festivals in its programme, just as Warsaw differs from other cities. Selecting the films, we always remember about our audience - native Varsovians, those working or studying in Warsaw, and those in town for a short while, for instance only for the Festival.

We do our best to make sure that our audiences get to know the latest and most interesting trends in world cinema as soon as possible. In this way, WFF audiences - usually as the first people in Poland - could discover American independent cinema as well as Asian, Latin American, Iranian, Russian and Romanian cinema. Some of the most amazing directors, like Michael Haneke, Cristian Mungiu, Paweł Pawlikowski, Ari Folman, Ashgar Farhadi, Lenny Abrahamson and hundreds of others, had usually been guests of the WFF before they reached the top.

We have been expanding the professional part of the WFF for over fifteen years. We realize that film festivals are part of the giant mechanism that is the global film industry. We do our best to make sure that the world takes note of Polish films, that they get screened at leading festivals, that they find their way into international distribution.

We started off modestly, in 2000, with screenings of new Polish projects for barely a dozen foreign guests. Five years later, we held the CentEast Market for the first time: a meeting place for professionals interested in films from Eastern Europe, described by The Hollywood Reporter as “the go-to event”. From 2009 till 2016, together with our Russian partner TVINDIE we have been presenting - in Warsaw and Moscow - films that are still works-in-progress but in which we want to interest sales agents and distributors. Similar presentations we organised at the Beijing Film Market from 2013-2016, with our Chinese partner Film Factory, under the name China-Eastern Europe Film Promotion Project.

Banner Catapult Horror Fest

Catapult Horror Fest

Minneapolis, United States

Catapult Horror Fest is an online home for independent, low-budget horror films. We champion filmmakers who do a lot with a little.

We don't just accept horror subgenres. We want to inspire you to explore them all. Body horror. Psychological terror. Supernatural. Found footage. Splatter. Camp. Creature features. Folk horror. Cosmic dread. Queer horror. Elevated scares. Push into genres you've never tried. Get weird. Take risks. Find your voice across the many faces of fear.

We celebrate both short films and features, including traditional widescreen and vertical formats. We especially love practical effects, bold ideas, DIY grit, and filmmakers willing to break boundaries.

Our mission is twofold:

Inspire creators to experiment across the full spectrum of horror. Try something new. Surprise yourself.

Give back. A percentage of our festival proceeds will be donated to support families in need, because we believe horror can build community and make a real-world difference.

Even if we can't give every film a cash prize, we aim to acknowledge as many filmmakers as possible through official selections, special mentions, curated spotlights, and subgenre-specific awards. This is your home as long as you're making horror.
