Sierra is a profound journey into the heart of the mountains, where time is measured in mule hours, in endless distances, and in the memory of its people. In this microcosm shaped by isolation and nature, every craft, every gesture, and every silence becomes an act of resistance and belonging.

In Vallecito, the most remote corner of the Sierras de Elizondo, lives Ladislao Reyes Chávez, a goatherd and popular poet who has dedicated his life to writing over eight hundred poems in notebooks he treasures above all else. After publishing his first book, Trovador Vallisto, in 2018, Reyes dreams of releasing a second volume to preserve the voice and memory of his people. That longing finds an unexpected ally in the students and teachers of the rural boarding school, who help him digitize his manuscripts—building a bridge between tradition and the future.

Meanwhile, the mountains face the arrival of the Camino de los Sueños (Road of Dreams), inaugurated in 2022. A project that promised integration and development, but also sparked new tensions within the community: what is gained and what is lost when “progress” reaches a land where life has endured for centuries under its own rules?

With majestic imagery and the cadence of poetic language, Sierra captures the rawness and beauty of a world in transformation, and raises questions that echo far beyond the mountains:
Will Reyes fulfill his dream of seeing his poems published?
Will the new road become a bridge to the future—or a threat to the identity of the mountain dwellers?
