“The Quantum Leap of The Termites” tells the story of an amateur Newcom team that mistakenly enters a national tournament. Despite having no competitive experience and only a couple of months of preparation, the 20 Maipú residents, aged between 50 and 70, decide to travel together to Santa Clara to compete against professional teams. Their time together brings up issues of age, the value of friendship, and the importance of team sports.
The documentary addresses the importance of a sense of belonging in the quality of life of older adults. It overcomes ageism with humor and shows the impact of Las Termitas's story on the Maipú community, which is precisely “the city of friendship.”
