The growth of tourism in Lisbon is transforming neighborhoods such as Alfama and Mouraria.
Due to its history, typical neighborhoods are the favorites of foreigners, trying to acquire buildings to live in or convert into residential and hotels. This phenomenon has led many local habitants, with no financial capacity to pay high rents, to leave the apartments and find alternatives outside the city, which, in some of these neighborhoods makes traditional commerce disappear.
Those who walk through Lisbon come across with several blocks with new constructions or restorations of old buildings. Some are in degradation state and others are left by residents after being sold by the onwers. The city's urban transformation is clearly visible in typical neighborhoods such as Alfama, Mouraria and Bairro Alto.
This documentary takes us to the people that still live in these historic places in the city, giving us the view of local traders.
