ALL FILM DESERVES A HOME
It's all about how much we like a film and where we place them. We just want good, original film that showcases our mission. We expect some films would be great to release to the theaters, others for television, some for the classroom, for our film series, or a great premiere. To encourage the independent spirit, Red Rock strives to find a home for all films that qualify in competition. This gives the filmmaker a chance to give their work exposure even if they may not make the festival finals. The festival also hosts a mini-film market, special screenings throughout the year plus we make recommendations to other festivals.
FILM MARKET
The Utah Film Market is a small section from the festival where filmmakers and other industry professionals can view films on their own in the festival library or in special industry screenings given to select finalists and other favorites from the festival.

Cerro de Pasco, a city that has forged its identity in the depths of the earth, is preparing to welcome a new treasure: the "4 Reales" Film Festival. Inspired by our region's rich mining history, this cinematic event stands as a beacon of hope and creativity, illuminating the deepest corners of our culture. With each frame, we aim to project dreams, inspire talent, and celebrate the cultural diversity that characterizes us. Since time immemorial, stories have been passed down from generation to generation, carved into the walls of mines and resonating in the hearts of their inhabitants. Today, cinema becomes the new medium to tell these stories, to make visible the struggles and dreams of a people who have known how to face challenges with courage. The name "4 Reales" pays homage to the colonial-era currency, a symbol of value and exchange. Just as money connected people in the past, cinema unites us in the present, creating a space for encounter and dialogue where differences are blurred and diversity is celebrated.

The Zagora International Film Festival was born from a deep desire to create a genuine space for cultural exchange, allowing filmmakers from all over the world to immerse themselves in the Saharan and Amazigh cultures—a living, multidimensional culture that spans cinema, music, the arts of daily life, local cuisine, communal spirit, nature, and values of generosity and hospitality.

During the festival, daily excursions are organized to explore the region’s historical and cultural landmarks, including Tamegroute, the Amezrou Kasbah, and the historic Koranic Library, enhancing visitors’ understanding of the rich cultural context the city embodies.
The festival consists of two official sections:
Documentary Competition
Short Film Competition (maximum 15 minutes)
An independent jury is appointed for each category, composed of cinematic and cultural figures, ensuring fair and specialized evaluation for every type of film.
Screenings take place inside the cultural center of Zagora, in addition to open-air screenings in the desert on a large, specially prepared screen. This unique visual and human experience blends cinema with the desert environment, offering both the audience and guests an exceptional moment of film viewing beyond traditional theaters.
