Do you have a short film idea? Would you like to develop it in a unique writing experience alongside emerging Spanish-speaking writers, with professional guidance?
The Short Script Workshop in Berlin is opening its sixth call for applications, and we are excited to invite you to participate in this new edition.
Led by María Meira, an award-winning screenwriter with over twenty years of experience in international cinema, our program offers an inspiring audiovisual writing experience in Spanish, aimed at gathering and enhancing the richness of contemporary Spanish-speaking perspectives and voices in Berlin.
In collaboration with the Instituto Cervantes in Berlin, the Workshop provides a platform for creation and reflection, where participants will work intensively and personally on the development of script projects over six months. Additionally, the program includes a cultural exchange experience in the city of Berlin.
A maximum of 9 selected projects will be developed from their early stages to extract their full potential, with the goal of producing a high-quality script that could become a short film lasting between 10 and 20 minutes.

LAB-PNR is a training and development lab designed to support emerging filmmakers, screenwriters, directors, and producers in the creation of their professional short films. After three successful editions, it has become a benchmark within Spain’s emerging film industry. The 2025 edition offers an intensive space to enhance the aesthetic and narrative quality of selected projects, improve their dossiers, and prepare them for a final pitch in front of industry professionals.
Eight projects will be selected from members of PNR, SGAE, and/or DAMA, whose creators are involved as directors, producers, and/or screenwriters. Participants will receive masterclasses, one-on-one consultations with industry experts, and leave the lab with strong materials ready to present to funding bodies and potential investors.
The lab will take place in Madrid at SGAE headquarters from June 2 to 5, 2025. Selected participants (up to two per project) will receive full scholarships covering all lab activities, including breakfast and lunch during the sessions. Travel and accommodation expenses must be covered by the participants.
The LAB concludes with a final pitch in September, during the Industry Section of the Madrid-PNR Film Festival, offering a valuable opportunity to connect with production companies, distributors, and streaming platforms.
