Through each stage of a meticulous, frame-by-frame process, the film reveals a patient and often invisible labor, combining manual gestures, machines from another era, and digital tools. It documents the work of those who strive to preserve cinematic heritage — not only the films themselves, but also the endangered know-how of the photochemical cinema era. In the background, the film questions the future of works preserved solely as digital files. Who can say how long movies preserved solely as digital files will survive?
