Festival start: 07 May 2023      Festival end: 11 May 2023

For us, Jewish film is not only aimed at films created by Jews or about Jews, and not only at direct and labeled Jewish themes, but also at films whose content is a confrontation between Jewish values in their broadest sense.
For example: parent-child relationships, (as an extension of the halacha about respecting parents) and so on.

We are intrigued to meet quality films, loaded with a high emotional charge, that can provide a refreshing, upsetting, happy, painful or inspiring look, about the tension between values and ideals and the everyday challenges of existence.

The theme chosen for this year's Gula Jewish Film Festival is the struggles and conflicts that arise at the meeting between the values of the Jewish tradition in the broadest sense and/or the limits of Jewish law, and different realities in human, community, and/or political life.

The festival will host competitive screening slots of films of various genres and lengths, for five consecutive screening evenings.

The first three places - cash prize:
Best film award - 3000 NIS.
The second and third winners -1000 NIS, to each one of them.

All films accepted for the festival compete for the first three places, regardless of genres and lengths.

The financial awards are sponsored by the Division of Jewish Culture at the Israeli Ministry of Education, and 'MKPT' - Petah Tikva Community Centers in the Petah Tikva Municipality.

The other awards are honorary degrees:
- Best Screenplay Award
- Best Director Award
- Best Actor Award
- Best Editing Award
- Best Soundtrack Award
- Best Animation Award
- Best Documentary Award
- The crowd favorite award

Taxes and fees that will be required according to the laws of the countries due to the financial prize grant will not apply to the festival, but to the winners of the financial prizes.

We accept films from all years.

We do not require a premiere, we accept films that have already been screened.

When registering the film, you declare that all the rights to the broadcasts belong to you

The number of entries by one author is not limited.

All entry fees are non-refundable.

Filmmakers from Israel or Iran are entitled to free submission for all categories and lengths.

All non-Hebrew speaking films must have English subtitles.
If the film you submitted was accepted to the festival - we will ask to receive the subtitle file in English SRT, so that we can translate it into Hebrew.

Films that will be selected for the festival are required to send us the poster in addition to the digital file of the film. We would also prefer to receive 3 frames from the film, for the publication of the program on the festival website and in the printed publication, but if the creator prefers - we can export an image from his film.

At this stage we are unable to provide flight, transportation and/or accommodation to the creators whose films were selected.

Screening copy: MP4 or MOV in h264 codec.

We will accept ONE VERSION of your entry only. We will NOT accept "updated" cuts such as "new sound mix", "new effects added", etc.

A film that has been applied cannot be withdrawn from the festival, unless the festival management decides otherwise.

The Festival may use excerpts from competition films (up to 10% of the length of the film, but no more than two minutes) to promote the Festival on television, all social media such facebook, instagram, Youtube etc, and the Internet.

We will not be able to accept a film that contains sex, or naked clothing
